Queer Dance Party: a fundraising event for the Queer Shakespeare Project

  • The Vagabond Studio 4001 N Ravenswood #504 Chicago, IL 60622 (map)

Get ready to dress up--and get down! We're throwing a queer dance party to kick off 2020 and raise funds for the Queer Shakespeare Project. There will be raffle prizes, booze and great music by Club Chow.

Our dance party will be a night of inclusion and, most importantly, a celebration of Chicago's vibrant queer and theatre communities. That means we want you (yes, you) to show up! Every member of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies are welcome to join us. AND - because pride and self expression are the mantras of the night - we want to see you in your queerest/proudest outfit (be ready to document it on our Instagram Wall).

HOW TO JOIN US
Meet us on January 4 in Vagabond's Suite 504. Tickets for the event are pay-what-you-can, starting at $15. Just for buying a ticket to the event, you'll be entered into one raffle prize drawing of your choosing. If you spend $25 or more on a ticket, we'll give you five raffle tickets to get you started!

WHAT IS THE QUEER SHAKESPEARE PROJECT?
The QSP began in 2018 when a group of classically trained queer actors started a conversation about Shakespeare's body of work and found themselves frustrated by the creative limitations of traditionally hetero-normative rehearsal rooms.

That conversation gave way to a series of workshops, and those workshops were a spring board for our first production: King Lear - coming in Spring 2020.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to that production, including payment for the artists involved on stage and behind the scenes.
